LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The Aggies open their third series of the season with an 11-6 win over Northern Colorado tonight, Mar. 1, at Presley Askew Field. Starting pitcher Treyjen Meza threw for 6.2 innings to earn the win.
The Aggies started the scoring in the bottom of the second as first baseman Mitch Namie hit an RBI single that scored Nick Gore who reached on base with a single. Gores single improved his seven-game hit streak to an eight-game hit streak.
After the top of the third the Aggies were up one run over the Bears. The Aggies would go up big scoring six runs in the bottom of the third.
In the third the scoring started with a solo home run hit by Keith Jones II, his third of the season. Damone Hale kept the extra-base hits coming with a triple that was hit immediately after the Jones HR. Hale was then brought home by an RBI single hit by Gore.
The Aggies kept the bats hot as Titus Dumitru hit an RBI single to score Steven Solorzano. Namie had a next man up mentality as he would drive in Gore for the Aggies fourth run in the third.
The Aggies third was not done as Sheehan O'Connor hit an RBI double. O'Connor wasn't on the base paths for long as Jadon Arakaki would drive him in on a base knock. The Aggies explosive third ends with six runs on seven hits.
The Bears earned their first run on a solo home run hit by Kai Wagner in the top of the fourth. This home run cut the deficit to six runs heading into the bottom of the fourth.
The Aggies gained back that run and more in the fourth as they hit two two-run homers hit by both Gore and Namie to make the score 11-1.
