PHARR, Texas – The Aggies will return to Las Cruces with their heads held high following a strong showing at the 2024 WAC Championships where they logged their best finish at the conference meet in three years.
After being left out of the pre championship poll in which a vote of the league's coaches selected the top three teams entering the week, the Aggies fought tooth and nail to claim third as a team – tallying 504 total points during the four-day meet inside the Pharr Natatorium. Ultimately, it was Northern Arizona who came out on top of the standings – finishing with an astounding 841.5 points to finish with more than 250 points than the next closest competitor as it went on to claim its 11
th straight WAC Championship.
The Aggies' final day of competition, they received a sixth-place finish from
Estel Galo in the 1650 freestyle as she posted a time of 17:03.65.
Moments later,
Lindsay Puhalski would secure yet another medal as she finished just eight-tenths off the lead in the finals of the 200 backstroke – posting a time of 1:57.35. This would mark the senior's fourth podium finish of the week and third individual top-three finish at the WAC Championships. Additionally, this was the final WAC Championships as the highly decorated Aggie wrapped up a career in which she earned 15 total medals with the league's insignia engraved on them.
In the 100 freestyle, the Aggies' top finish would come from
Emily Dobbins who posted a time of 51.35 to claim fourth in the B final of the event. The next women's swim event would produce the Aggies' second and final swim medal of the day as
Kodi Wiman raced to a silver medal in the 200 breaststroke. In the race, the freshman posted a personal best time of 2:14.64 to out-touch the third and fourth-place competitors.
The Aggies later saw two swimmers land among the top 16 in the 200 fly as
Estel Galo claimed 13
th (2:04.17) and
Ellen Osthelder finished in 15
th (2:08.72). The Aggies then submitted a fifth-place finish in the final swim event of the week as the team of
Lindsay Puhalski,
Emily Dobbins,
Naomi Slee and
Katie Rink finished with a time of 3:22.02 in the 400 free relay.
To end the day and week, the Aggies claimed a silver medal in the team dive event – an event which was introduced last year, however, does not count toward the team totals. In the event, the trio of

Italia Aranzabal and
Mira Tinani teamed up to claim second place, ending the Aggies' week on a high note.
