DALLAS – NM State junior
Lisa Zhu earned one of just six spots on the Conference USA All-Academic team, the league announced on Friday morning. This marks the first-ever CUSA All-Academic selection in program history.
To be eligible, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore class, have a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and have participated in 75% of the team's matches.
Zhu, a junior from Beijing, China, represents the Aggies on lines two and three in singles play and has accumulated seven wins in singles action, including a perfect 4-0 record in conference matches. Zhu has also shined for the Aggies in doubles play where she has put together a 10-4 record to lead all Aggies. She has also managed a perfect 3-0 record in CUSA play while playing alongside
Whitney Moon.
Zhu is also joined on the CUSA All-Academic Team by Western Kentucky's Sofia Blanco, Samantha Martinez, Liberty's Esther Lovato, LA Tech's Tiffani Nash, UTEP's Veronika Lebisova.
The award comes off of a sophomore season in which won 11 singles matches on her way to earning Second Team All-WAC honors.
