The Aggies will partake in the Desert Heat Classic to conclude the 2024 regular season.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – As the regular season draws to a close, NM State embarks for familiar territory – Drachman Stadium in Tucson, Arizona, the site that began the Aggies' 2024 outdoor season. On Saturday, Apr. 27, NM State will take part in the Desert Heat Classic, hosted by the University of Arizona.

Starting Line
  • NM State heads to Tucson, Arizona for the second time this outdoor season, following the season-opening Desert Heat Classic held Mar. 22-23. Schools slated to compete at the meet include No. 4 Oregon, No. 10 Tennessee, No. 15 Alabama, No. 25 UTEP, Iowa, Iowa State, Purdue and host Arizona, among others.
  • This meet will be the last regular-season competition for the Aggies, who will then travel to El Paso for the 2024 CUSA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held May 10-12. NM State looks for its second consecutive outdoor track & field championship after securing the 2023 WAC championship.
  • The Aggies will have student-athletes competing in 17 events, including the 800m run with five Crimson & White entrants.

  • No stranger to stiff competition, Aliyah Logan competed in the 100m hurdles with five other collegiate athletes who would finish inside the top-50 for the fastest times in the nation. The senior from Markham, Ontario, Canada, would go on to outpace them all, finishing fourth overall and first among collegiate athletes with a time of 13.20.
  • In the Long Jump, Cameron Hodges eclipsed her previous best, taking fourth overall with a best jump of 6.01m (19-8.75"). Later in the day competing in the triple jump, Hodges showed her versatility by taking home gold with a best distance of 11.85m (38-10.50").
  • In the 400m hurdles, Terice Steen posted a season-best time of 58.59 to take fifth place. This mark ranks the senior from Hanover, Jamaica 28th in the NCAA West region. Joining Steen, Breanna Moss (1:01.08) and T'Erica Boyd (1:03.81) posted season bests on the day
  • Consistency is key, and Rebecca Green has been a prime example for NM State this season. For the fourth time in outdoor competition and the fifth time in 2024, the Los Alamos native took home the gold in the shot put, recording a best result of 16.47m (54-0.50"). This is the second-best distance of Green's career, behind her school record mark of 16.59m set at this season's Stanford Invitational.

One Year Ago… | Desert Heat Classic | 4.29.23
  • Terice Steen has held the Aggie record in the 400m hurdles since 2021, but using that time as a measuring stick for herself has yielded impressive results for the junior from Hanover, Jamaica. At the Desert Heat Classic, Steen broke her own record for a third time in the 2023 outdoor season, crossing the line in sixth place with a time of 58.80.
  • Miranda Tcheutchoua opened NM State's day with a top-five finish, taking fourth place in the hammer throw after recording a distance of 59.30m (194-6"), a new personal best.
  • A pair of Aggie freshman, Cameron Hodges and Angelina Killings, recorded new personal records in the long jump after tallying final distances of 5.47m (17-11.5") and 5.46m (17-11") respectively.
