CLE ELUM, Wash. – NM State sophomore
Emma Bunch wrapped up her season on Wednesday afternoon at Tumble Creek Club at Suncadia Resort as she concluded the NCAA Cle Elum Regional. On the final day of the event, Bunch equaled her best 18-hole score of the weekend – posting a 73 (+1) to conclude the tournament tied for 24
th (+9) among the 67-player field. In total, Bunch carded a 79-73-73-225 for the 54-hole regional.
On Wednesday, Bunch carded a trio of birdies, including a birdie on her 54
th hole as she posted a four on the par-5 18
th to end her stellar season on a high note. Ultimately, Bunch's 73 was good enough to move the Lynge, Denmark, native up 12 spots on the leaderboard. This was also tied for the fifth-most spots moved up the board on the final day.
From Monday to Wednesday, Bunch compiled a total of nine birdies to tie for ninth-most when stacked up against the field. She also came in under the field's average score on both Tuesday and Wednesday at the difficult track in Cle Elum. Tuesday, the regional participants averaged 75.74 strokes for the round before averaging a 76.30 on Wednesday.
Bunch and the rest of the field ended the tournament chasing Stanford's Rachel Heck who closed the tournament eight under par to win the individual title by four strokes. She also helped lead Stanford to a team victory as they finished 17 under par to clear the field by 18 strokes. With the win, Stanford will be advancing to the national championship where they will also play alongside Cle Elum qualifiers Duke, Virginia, Arizona State and San Jose State. Additionally, Long Beach State's Jasmine Leovao secured the lone individual spot granted from the Cle Elum regional.
Wednesday also capped off the 2023-24 season for the NM State women's golf program who finishes the year with 17 individual top-10 finishes, 24 individual top-25 finishes and seven top-five team finishes.
