LAS CRUCES, N.M. – NM State faced a testing day at the ACU Tournament, managing just two victories in a tough slate of matches.
Unlike their dominant performance at last week's Aggie Invitational, the Aggies struggled to find momentum on the opening day of play. Freshman Nadia Nemeth, however, was a bright spot, contributing to both of NM State's wins.
In the Flight D singles draw, Nemeth edged out Abilene Christian's Alice Klinteby in a tightly contested match, 6-4, 6-5 (10-5). She continued her strong form in doubles, partnering with returner Whitney Moon to secure NM State's only doubles win, defeating ACU's Maria Cascos and Hebe Toyos, 6-4.
The Aggies will look to rebound and build on these victories when they return to the courts tomorrow morning, with matches set to begin at 9 a.m.
