Head Coach
Joseph Rath returns for his fourth season as the leader of the Crimson & White, while being joined by a pair of new assistant coaches.
David Verburg, an Olympic Gold Medalist sprinter, joins NM State following his most recent coaching stint at San Jose State, while
Patrick Larrison enters his first full-time coaching role after competing for five seasons with the Kansas Jayhawks on the throws team.
The Starting Line
- NM State will open its 2025 campaign at the Corky Classic in Lubbock, Texas. The two-day meet is slated to begin with the weight throw at 2 p.m. MT on Friday afternoon, with the second day of action starting at approximately 11:00 a.m. MT.
- The Aggies will compete alongside programs such as Baylor, Florida, Kentucky, Miami, SMU, South Carolina and Texas A&M.
- As a team, the Crimson & White will compete in 12 events: 60m, 200m, 600y, 800m, 60m H, Mile, 3000m, 4x400, LJ, HJ, shot put and weight throw.

Dual Sport Star
- Sophomore Marlee Cavitt is set to begin her track & field career with NM State after transferring from the University of Portland last summer. In one of the most unique situations in the nation, Cavitt is also a member of the NM State Soccer team, becoming a pivotal member of the backline defense in her debut season. Playing and starting all 20 contests, the Sacramento, Calif., native finished third on the team in minutes played (1,575). Cavitt is set to compete in short sprint events for the Aggies, including the 60m dash and 200m dash in Lubbock.

- Jhana Downie bested her 60m mark in both prelims (7.49) and the finals (7.48), Jordan Torres captured gold and improved on her previous best in the 3000m 'B' race, and Makiya Moore tallied a runner-up finish while posting a new personal record in the weight throw (18.02m).
- Junior sprinter Jahnya Hill competed in the 600y dash for the first time in her collegiate career, taking fifth in the event with a time of 1:26.37.
- In the 4x400, the group of Terice Steen, T'Erica Boyd, Mickaliliah Vassell and Hill took first place in their heat and third overall with a time of 3:46.07, good for the ninth-fastest time in program history.
