COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Aggies made their mark in the Lone Star State this weekend, competing at the Arturo Barrios Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M at the Watts Cross Country Course. Facing a deep field of national contenders, NM State submitted solid performances in both the men's and women's races.
On the men's side, the Aggies combined to finish 15
th with an average time of 24:42.16, while the NM State women turned in a 14th-place, averaging a time of 21:32.78 across their eight finishing competitors.
Men's 8K Recap
The men kicked off the morning with the 8K race, where
Andrew Gibby led the Aggies with a time of 23:46.2, placing 24th overall in the 323-man field. Sophomore
Orion Chavez followed closely, clocking in at 24:25.0 for 83rd place, while
Omer Ibrahim rounded out the top three Aggie finishers in 133
rd place with a time of 24:57.6
Derick Castellanos crossed in 136th place with a time of 24:58.8. Senior
Nick Allred, in his final regular-season appearances, crossed the line in 165th place with a time of 25:23.2. Sophomores
Angel Maese and
Gabriel Uranga, finished in 167th (25:23.4) and 181st (25:30.1), respectively.
Leo Valenzuela (208
th, 25:50.1),
Jonah Archer (221
st, 26:01.2) and
Kobe Rodriguez (254
th, 26:35.4) also competed for the Aggies on Friday.
The men's individual title was claimed by Titus Kimaru of Texas Tech, who finished in 22:36.1.
Women's 6K Recap
In the women's 6K, graduate
Amanda Radava led the Crimson & White, finishing 60th overall with a time of 21:08.0. Sophomore
Nia Allison followed in 64th place, posting a time of 21:12.2, while sophomore
Marlene Mosqueda placed 78th with a time of 21:24.2.
Valeria Macias Casas finished 100th in 21:47.3, and freshman
Ainsleigh Kasprick placed 136th, finishing in 22:12.2.
Murrie Dodge came across in 22:42.2 to place 180
th, and sophomore Eloïse Stuart posted a time of 22:51.0 to come in 189
th.
Abigail Beam rounded out the group of Aggies, finishing 221
st (23:23.1).
The women's individual crown went to Elizabeth Khatevi of Texas A&M–Corpus Christi, who finished in 18:56.0.

With the Arturo Barrios Invite serving as the Aggies' final regular season competition, NM State will now prepare for the 2025 Conference USA Championships. This year's title event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 1, in Huntsville, Ala.
