SALT LAKE CITY – NM State suited up once more in the 2025 cross country season, heading out to Salt Lake City for the 2025 NCAA Mountain Regional, hosted by the University of Utah. Facing stiff competition in the region, NM State tallied strong performances built on a solid showing at the CUSA Cross Country Championships.
Kicking off the day with the women's 6k, Second Team All-CUSA selection
Valeria Macias Casas paced the Aggies for the first time this season, steadily climbing during the duration of the race to post a time of 22:22.3 to tally a 68th place finish in Salt Lake City – the best finish among Aggie men and women at the meet.
Coming off first-team all-conference honors,
Nia Allison crossed the line second for the Crimson & White, using a fast start to finish with a time of 22:36.3 in her NCAA Mountain Regional debut.
Following a strong performance at the CUSA Championships,
Marlene Mosqueda finished third for NM State, posting a time of 22:57.4 in her second NCAA Mountain Regional appearance.
Murrie Dodge (23:24.3), Eloïse Stuart (23:50.9), and
Ainsleigh Kasprick (23:57.6) made their NCAA Mountain Regional debut.
In the men's 10k, Third Team All-CUSA honoree
Andrew Gibby led the Aggies at the finish line, surging up the order throughout the duration of the race to finish with a time of 33:13.6.
Sophomore
Orion Chavez tallied a runner-up result among NM State entrants, posting a time of 33:26.0 in Utah – his second appearance at an NCAA Regional.
First-year Aggie
Omer Ibrahim took part in his first collegiate 10k on Friday, recording the third-fastest time on the Crimson & White with a mark of 33:37.4 during his Mountain Regional debut.
Angel Maese (34:04.4) and
Derick Castellanos (34:58.4) competed in their second regional competition for NM State, while senior
Nick Allred made his NCAA Regional debut and event debut, posting a time of 35:29.1 in the 10k.
