Moon and Pinaieva Advance to Doubles Quarterfinals at ITA Mountain Regional Championships

The Aggies added two singles wins in extra matches from Petton and Moon.

PROVO, Utah – NM State continued play at the ITA Mountain Regional Championships on Wednesday, highlighted by a doubles victory from Whitney Moon and Anna Pinaieva to advance to the quarterfinals. 

The Aggie duo punched their ticket to the next round after edging Colorado's Yukiko Ikedo and Madeline Brotman in a tight 8-7 battle. With the win, Moon and Pinaieva move into the quarterfinal round of the main draw, marking a strong showing for the pair through the opening days of competition. 

In singles main draw action, Anna Pinaieva fell to Boise State's Tereza Polakova in straight sets (6-0, 7-5), while Montana Parkinson-Lubold dropped a competitive match to Idaho State's Millie Day by identical 7-5 set scores. 

The Aggies also picked up a pair of victories in extra singles matches, as Whitney Moon defeated Northern Arizona's Leontina Stojanovic in straight sets (7-5, 7-5) and Emma Petton earned a three-set win over Denver's Ruby Hansen (6-3, 7-6 [10-8]). 

The Aggies will continue action at the Mountain Regional Championships on Thursday as Moon and Pinaieva look to keep their doubles run alive.
