LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Wrapping up the regular season at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational on Feb. 14-15, NM State returns to action for the 2025 Conference USA Indoor Track & Field Championship, hosted by Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. The Starting Line
- The Aggies kick off their quest for the 2025 CUSA Indoor Track & Field Championship from the Liberty Indoor Sports Complex on Friday, February 28. Action begins with the pentathlon at 8:00 a.m. MT on Friday, with the shot put starting the day on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. MT.
- NM State will compete alongside Conference USA programs such as FIU, Jax State, Kennesaw State, LA Tech, Middle Tennessee, Sam Houston, UTEP, WKU and host Liberty.
- As a team, the Crimson & White will compete in 16 events: 60m, 200m, 400m, 800m, Mile, 3000m, 60m Hurdles, 4x400m relay, long jump, high jump, triple jump, shot put, weight throw, DMR and the pentathlon – the Aggies have not had a student-athlete compete in the pentathalon since February 2020, when Nia Garcia tallied 3,096 points at the WAC Indoor Track & Field Championships; helping NM State secure the 2020 Indoor Track & Field Championship.

Dual Sport Star
- Sophomore Marlee Cavitt is set to continue her track & field career with NM State after transferring from the University of Portland last summer. In one of the most unique situations in the nation, Cavitt is also a member of the NM State Soccer team, becoming a pivotal member of the backline defense in her debut season. Playing and starting all 20 contests, the Sacramento, Calif., native finished third on the team in minutes played (1,575).
- Cavitt competes in short sprint events for the Aggies, currently ranking inside the top-12 in the conference in the 60m dash (12th) and 200m dash (11th).

- Opening the afternoon with the mile run, Nia Allison posted the Aggies' best finish in the event, taking 11th with a time of 5:06.42, a personal best from the freshman from Katy, Texas.
- The 200m dash proved the most successful event for NM State on Friday afternoon, with a trio of Aggies advancing to the finals. Jhana Downie breezed past the competition in her heat, securing the fourth-fastest time with a result of 24.05 seconds. Mickaliliah Vassell posted a time of 24.32 to record the seventh-fastest time and a new personal best, while Sierra Brewer nabbed the eighth and final spot after crossing the line with a time of 24.45, her second-fastest time of the season.
- Rebecca Green earned the spotlight, taking home the lone first-place finish for NM State in the shot put. Cameron Hodges earned a third team All-CUSA selection after posting a third-place finish in the triple jump.
- NM State closes their first CUSA Championship with a fifth-place finish, totaling 62 points. Liberty was named conference champions after totaling 169 points, with UTEP (99 points) and Middle Tennessee (95 points) rounding out the top three.
