LAS CRUCES, N.M. - NM State women's tennis opens its 2025 fall campaign this weekend as it travels to Fort Collins, Colo., for the John Messick Invitational hosted at the CSU Tennis Complex. The three-day tournament will feature a deep field, including Colorado State, Wyoming, Utah State, Air Force, Chicago, Utah, New Mexico, Montana State and Weber State.
Competition begins Friday at 10 a.m. with two rounds of doubles followed by singles play. Saturday and Sunday's action will start at 9 a.m., with the final matches set to wrap up on Sunday afternoon.
The 2025 Aggies
This fall, NM State returns five players from last year's squad – Anna Pinaieva, Montana Parkinson-Lubold, Dora Kurdi, Nadia Nemeth and Whitney Moon. The Aggies also welcome three newcomers: freshmen Anna Klimova and Mariella Gelbke, along with transfer Emma Petton.
Leading the way for NM State will be Pinaieva, who returns in the No. 1 singles position following an impressive junior season. She posted a 9-4 singles record and a 13-7 mark in doubles in 2024-25, highlighted by a four-match singles win streak in February that earned her CUSA Athlete of the Week honors. She later added a five-match unbeaten stretch that included three unfinished matches in which she had already secured a set.
