LAS CRUCES, N.M. – NM State made multiple pushes on Saturday at Presley Askew Field at Johnson Stadium but could not overcome Towson's three‑run seventh inning, falling 8-6 despite a 10‑hit effort. The Aggies scored in the first, second, fifth and ninth but left 13 runners on base.
After Towson took a 2–1 lead in the second,
Chris Daniels tied the game with a solo home run in the bottom half. The Tigers responded with three in the third to go up 5-2, but NM State rallied for three in the fifth. This was highlighted by an RBI walk from
Cole Rogers, an infield RBI single from
Dane Woodcook and a hit‑by‑pitch RBI for
Boston Vest, evening the score at 5-5.
Towson regained control with a three‑run seventh. NM State threatened again in the ninth as
Easton Rulli was hit by a pitch and Daniels singled for his fourth hit of the day. Rogers then drove in a run with a single to pull the Aggies within 8-6 before the rally came up short.
On the mound, the Aggies were led by senior
Jack Turner who came on in relief and tossed 5.0 innings and recorded nine strikeouts.
Asa Briggs closed out the game with a scoreless ninth.
