LAS CRUCES, N.M. – NM State opened Friday night with early scoring at Johnson Stadium, but LA Tech's offense delivered several big innings as the Aggies fell 13-8 in the series opener.
The Aggies struck first when
Steve Solorzano tripled to right in the opening inning and came home on a throwing error, followed by
Bryce Campbell's RBI groundout to make it 2-1. NM State answered again in the second after Woodcook delivered a two‑RBI single to tie the game 4–4.
Louisiana Tech, however, seized control with five runs in the third inning, including a grand slam from Colby Lunsford who powered the Bulldogs with two home runs and seven RBIs on the night. The Bulldogs later added two more in the fifth to extend the deficit.
NM State made one final push in the ninth.
Cole Rogers singled,
Camden Kaufman was hit by a pitch, and after both stole multiple bases (including Rogers scoring on an errant throw),
Brandon Clizbe singled home another run. Campbell capped the late rally with a two‑RBI single to center, bringing the Aggies within five before the comeback bid ended.
Campbell finished with three RBI, while Solorzano, Rulli, and Rogers each recorded a hit and scored. Woodcook drove in two, and Clizbe added an RBI off the bench.
