Biography

2013 (Junior):  In her third campaign with the Aggies, Smith appeared in five games. In a contest versus Idaho (Sept. 27), Smith finished the game with one shot and one goal. She also totaled 116 minutes played on the season including a season-high 44 minutes against Omaha (Aug. 23) where the Aggies went on to beat the Mavericks.

2012 (Sophomore): Smith played in 12 matches and started in seven contests before being sidelined with an injury in 2012. She ranked fourth on the team in both shots (15) and shots on goal (eight) as a sophomore. In her first start of the season against Idaho State (Aug. 19), Smith tied a career high with four shots. Smith set a career high for shots on goal with three in her following start against Sam Houston State (Sept. 7) during the home opener. In addition, Smith earned Academic All-WAC honors.

2011 (Freshman): In her freshman campaign, Smith made an appearance in all 21 matches and started in 11 games for the Aggies. She scored five goals, which tied for the team high, recorded one assist, 41 shots, 17 shots on goal and .415 shots on goal percentage. In the home opener, Smith scored her first career goal in the 4-0 win over Prairie View A&M (Aug. 26). She posted her second goal in the 2-1 win at Jacksonville State (Sept. 2). In the 3-0 win over Arkansas-Little Rock (Sept. 11), Smith had both a goal and an assist for the first time as an Aggie. Smith also scored a pair of goals, including the game-winning score, in the 7-0 win over Embry-Riddle (Sept. 23). She was one of only three Aggies in 2011 with multiple goals in a match. She earned Academic All-WAC Freshman/Transfer team honors.

High School/Club: Smith is the second New Mexican to sign with the Aggies in 2011. She is from Albuquerque and Eldorado High School. As a senior, Smith was a second team all-state honoree after leading the Lady Eagles to the state semifinals. In 2009, Smith and Eldorado won the 5A State Championship, and she was named player of the year and first team all-state. As a sophomore, Smith guided the Lady Eagles to the state title match, and they were three-time district champs.

Personal: Smith is the daughter of John and Mary McKenna and was born in Albuquerque, N.M. She is majoring in nursing.
