Aggies, Oh Aggies!

Stacie Owers

Associate Head Coach Stacie Owers became the newest member of the NM State coaching staff in March 2024, and recently completed her first season with the Crimson & White – helping the Aggies secure their third straight 10+ win campaign, making a run to the 2024 CUSA Women’s Soccer Championship semifinals.

Sporting an 11-6-3 overall record, Owers’ guidance helped the Aggies finish 7-1-2 at the NM State Soccer Complex, including the program’s first win over a power conference opponent on Aug. 22, defeating the University of Oregon 2-0. Along with a 2-2 draw in the season opener against 2024 Big Ten champions USC, the Crimson & White also compiled a sparkling 4-0-1 record in home Conference USA bouts – since joining the league in 2023, NM State is 6-0-2 in home conference contests.

Graduate forward Loma McNeese was one of seven Aggies to earn all-conference honors in 2024, including a pair of Second Team All-CUSA selections, three Third Team All-CUSA selections and a CUSA All-Freshman team honor.

Prior to joining the Crimson & White, Owers spent a pair of seasons as the Head Coach at Rhodes College, a Division III program in Memphis, Tennessee. In Owers’ first collegiate head coaching gig, the Lynx posted a combined record of 21-9-3, including an appearance in the Southern Athletic Association title game against Sewanee in 2023. During the ’23 campaign, Grace Culver, Sophia Rall and Taylor Theofiledes earned First Team All-SAA honors, while placing three on the Second Team and four on the SAA Honorable Mention team. While at Rhodes, Owers also worked on the Staff Advisory Council.

Owers accepted her first head coaching position in 2020, when she was named the Head Women’s Soccer Coach at Arlington High School in Memphis, Tenn., where she also worked as an assistant coach for the men’s soccer team. In her first season at the helm, the Tigers won the AAA Region 7 District 14 title, claiming the program’s first regional championship, and made an appearance in the Sectionals final, falling to 2021 AAA Tennessee state champions Houston High School. In addition, she worked as a teacher at the school, working in special education as well as teaching business, marketing and management classes.

Ahead of her time at Arlington High School, Owers spent four seasons as an assistant coach for the Christian Brothers University Bucs, a Gulf South Conference member in Memphis, Tennessee. From 2016-2019, the Bucs amassed a 32-33-4 record, with a trio of appearances in the Gulf Coast Conference Championships. Owers earned a pair of Master’s degrees during her time at CBU, earning a Master’s of Business Administration and a Master’s of Education.

While working at CBU, Owers also began coaching in the community, working with Lobos Rush and Germantown Legends FC through to her departure for Las Cruces.

Hailing from Southampton, England, Owers moved to the United States in 2011 to play collegiate soccer at Tyler JC in Tyler, Texas. After a pair of seasons with the Apaches that included a national championship in 2011 and earning First Team All-American honors, Owers made the jump to the Division I level, spending two seasons with the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Massachusetts. With the Minutewomen, Owers made two trips to the A10 Women’s Soccer Championship.

In England, Owers played for a multitude of teams including Southampton FC, Portsmouth FC, Hampshire County, Havant & Waterlooville FC. In 2021, she joined the Memphis Americans, a professional soccer team in the National Indoor Soccer League, helping them to the NISL championship.

Owers holds a USSF 'C' Coaching License, while pursuing her 'B' license and also earning an Advanced National Diploma.
