WACO, Texas – The No. 9 NM State equestrian team dominated equitation over fences with a score of 3-1 on their way to a 9-7 victory over No. 5 Fresno State on day one of the Willis Invitational on Friday.
Samantha Perlman,
Cori Cromwell and
Chelsea Brady each acquired a point in equitation over fences by scores of 78.0, 66.0 and 73.0, respectively. Brady and Cromwell also both used a score of 74.0 in equitation on the flat to garner two points for the Aggies. These points, combined with the equitation over fences, helped the Aggies win the hunter seat event 5-3.
NM State also captured a 3-1 victory in reining.
Kimberly Ferrante scored a 70.0,
Jaimie Story scored a 64.5 and
Hallie Padilla racked up a score of 67.0 to each earn a point for the Aggies. After
Morgan Matzdorff earned a score of 72.0 to capture a point in horsemanship, NM State and Fresno State tied the western event 4-4.
The Aggies continue competition in the Willis Invitational tomorrow as they face No. 3 Baylor and Tennessee-Martin. Competition begins at 9 a.m. MT.
