Aggies Cruise to Victory against Tennessee-Martin
NM State wins hunt seat and western to top UTM 12-3
Athens, Ga. – The New Mexico State equestrian team topped Tennessee-Martin in hunt seat, 6-2, as well as in western events, 6-1. The squad ended up winning equitation over fences, horsemanship, reining and tying UTM in equitation on the flat.
Erica Rosinski (78.0),
Madison Brayman (84.0), Samnatha Perlman (72.0) and
Karianna Knezevich (82.0) each earned a point to earn the sweep in equitation over fences, 4-0. Brayman also earned Most Outstanding Player in the event.
The Aggies then split points in equitation on the flat to tie 2-2.
Grace McMurry (76.0) and Knezevich (74.0) each earned a point for NM State. These two events captured the Aggies six points in the hunt seat and give them the win, 6-2.
In the next event, horsemanship,
Morgan Matzdorff (74.0) and
Katlynn Crine (70.5) earned the only points for NM State which was enough to win the event, 2-1. Along with her point, Crine also took home Most Outstanding Player recognition.
To finish the day, the team won reining 4-0. This was thanks to Kimmy Ferrante (68.5),
Hallie Padilla (69.0),
Katherine Arnold (67.5) and
Jaimie Story (68.5). This final event also saw Padilla earn Most Outstanding Player.
A great day for the NM State equestrian team saw them get the win, 12-3. The team looks to carry this momentum into tomorrow, Oct. 23, as they face Georgia in Athens, Ga.
