LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State women's tennis team is headed to Tucson for a pair of matches as they look to build upon their win last time out.

The Aggies are slated to face Pima Community College, who is ranked No. 19 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association Polls for NJCAA teams, on Friday, Feb. 12, at 1 p.m. (MT). NM State will then take on the host, No. 58 Arizona on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 2 p.m. (MT).

BUILDING BLOCKSWith its first win of the dual season in the books, NM State can now move forward and build upon its win.
Mia Brandt currently leads the team with a 2-1 mark in dual play, while four other Aggies have a win under their belt in dual play.

Lindsay Harlas, a Las Cruces, N.M., product recorded her first collegiate victory in helping the Aggies record their first win of the season. The freshman down her opponent from Weber State 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 6 position in the win. She also won back-to-back doubles matches with teammate
Chloe Jolliff.

Ashvarya Shrivastav and
Rimpledeep Kaur also have a pair of wins in doubles play, both coming at the No. 2 position. The two also lead NM State in wins with a 4-2 overall mark in doubles action.

LAS TIME OUTAfter dropping their first match to host, UNLV, the Aggies were a doubles point away from swinging the match their way against Pacific. However, NM State figured out the kinks and took care of business against Weber State to record its first win of the dual season to wrap up their trip in Las Vegas.

EYEING THE AZTECSFirst up NM State on its two-day road trip to Tucson, Ariz., will be Pima Community College. The Aztecs, who are ranked 19th in the latest ITA rankings for junior colleges, are 1-0 on the season.

Freshman Kelsey Brown is ranked No. 19 in singles play for Pima CC while she and teammate Noelle Karp are ranked No. 22 in doubles.

The Aztec roster consists of three sophomores and four freshmen, all hailing from the state of Arizona.

WILDCAT COUNTRYThe Aggies will then face host, No. 58 Arizona, Saturday at 2 p.m. at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center. UA will be playing against San Diego (Feb. 12) and Northern Arizona (Feb. 13) before they face the Aggies.

The Wildcats are currently 3-2 on the year and 2-0 when playing at home. Samantha Czarniak, Lauren Marker and Camila Wesbrooks all have four wins to their name in dual play. Marker and Wesbrooks each have a loss while Czarniak is undefeated in dual play. Shayne Austin and Devin Chyphya each have three wins for UA as well.

In doubles action, the duo of Austin and Marker lead the team with a 3-1 record at the No. 1 position while Czarniak and Inge Hendrikx are 2-2 at the No. 2 doubles slot.

Marker is ranked No. 39 in singles play according to the latest ITA polls while she and Austin check in at No. 56 for doubles play. Marker has record all of her wins in singles play at the No. 1 singles position.
