LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State women's tennis team returned home with a 7-0 victory over Western New Mexico on Wednesday afternoon at the NM State Tennis Center.

The Aggies swept on all three courts in doubles play, surrendering no more than three points on any court – including a 6-0 blanking at the No. 2 position by
Lindsay Harlas and
Gabrielle Joyce.

Joyce quickly gave the Aggies a 2-0 lead after the start of singles action when she defeated Nadia Justiniano 6-1, 6-0 on court No. 6. Harlas gave NM State the 3-0 advantage not too long after with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the No. 5 singles slot.

Vanessa Valdez made her debut as the Aggies' top singles player with a 6-1, 6-1 win over WNMU's Tiffany Newell and clinched the match for NM State.
Marie-Pier Thiffault finished her opponent off on court No. 3 6-2, 6-3 before
Eli Arnaudova claimed a 6-1, 6-1 beating of the Mustangs' Jeane Kolb on court No. 4. Freshman
Rebecca Keijzerwaard secured the clean sweep for New Mexico State when she ousted Annely Heinze 6-3, 6-1 on court No. 2.

The Aggies will get a day to regroup before UTSA comes to town for a noon match-up on Friday, April 7, at the NM State Tennis Center. The Roadrunners are led by Miriam Rosell Canudas, UTSA's top singles player who is also ranked No. 99 in singles play by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
