LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State women's tennis team fell 5-2 to the visiting Roadrunners of UTSA Friday afternoon at the NM State Tennis Center.

The Aggies (8-12) started things off with a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles thanks to
Lindsay Harlas and
Gabrielle Joyce.
Rimpledeep Kaur and
Marie-Pier Thiffault clinched the doubles point for NM State soon after when they defeated their counterparts on court No. 2, 6-4.

UTSA (10-8) tied things up in singles action when Joyce was bested by Kylee Kato on court No. 6, 6-4. Madronal Rosell Canudas, the 99th-ranked singles player by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, gave the Roadrunners a 2-1 edge when she defeated Kaur at the top singles position 6-2, 6-3.

Eli Arnaudova wasn't able to get the best of Lina Hallgren at No. 4 singles and fell 6-4, 6-1 before UTSA clinched the match 4-1 on court No. 5 behind Laura Cabrera's 5-3, 6-2 victory over Harlas.
Rebecca Keijzerwaard earned NM State its long singles point when she bested Charleen Tiwari 7-6, 7-5 in a tightly contested match at the No. 3 slot before
Vanessa Valdez fell 7-6, 7-5 on court No. 2.

NM State will head to Battle of I-10 rival UTEP next Saturday, April 15, for a noon time contest before entertaining UT-Permian Basin on Sunday, April 16, at 10 a.m. for its final match of the regular-season. The Aggies will then play host to the Western Athletic Conference Championship (April 28-30) two weeks later.
