LORMAN, Miss. – The New Mexico State women's soccer team improved to 4-0-1 Monday afternoon following a triumphant 8-0 win over Alcorn State. This is the highest-scoring game for the Aggies in program history.
The last time NM State scored five or more goals was on Oct. 15, 2015, when they defeated Chicago State, 5-1. This also marks the fifth time for the program where the Aggies have scored five or more goals in a single match. NM State has tallied eight goals two other times in program history, both occured during the 2010 campaign.
The Aggies wasted no time out of the gate, scoring the team's first four goals by the 26th minute mark. Junior forward
Audriana Chavez continued to display her offensive prowess, adding two goals and one assist on Monday. Goalkeeper
Dmitri Fong displayed another strong performance with three saves and improved her goals against average to 0.19. The redshirt freshman has now held opponents without a goal in 464:53 minutes of action.

Katie Martinez made a big play in the second half of the match and scored her first collegiate goal with the assist from
Jess McDow. This lifted the Aggies to a 7-0 lead at the 69

Alexandria Otero capped off the high-scoring affair for NM State with her second score of the match in the 82nd minute on an assist from freshman
Andrea Castaneda.
NM State remains on the road for the third week of competition. The first stop will be Colorado State on Friday, Sept. 1, at 4 p.m. (MT). To close out the week, the Aggies will square off against Northern Colorado at noon on Sunday, Sept. 3.
