Aggies Host Weekend Clash Against the Roos

NM State women’s basketball gets set to host WAC foe UMKC on Saturday, Jan. 27, at 12 p.m. MT.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State women's basketball team plays host to the Roos of UMKC on Saturday, Jan. 27. Tip-off for the Western Athletic Conference battle is slated for noon at the Pan American Center.
 
WHERE TO WATCH
Fan who can't make it to Saturday's contest can stream the game on ESPN3. The game can also be watched live on FOX Sports Arizona and FOX Sports Southwest PLUS. FOX Sports Arizona is also set to replay the game on Jan. 28, at 1 a.m. MT and on Jan. 30 at 3:30 p.m. MT.
 
Adam Young is on the call for the Aggies clash with the Roos with Patrick Knapp serving as the analyst.

SCOUTING THE ROOS
The UMKC Roos enter the Pan Am on Saturday with a 7-13 overall record and 3-2 mark in Western Athletic Conference play. The Roos are currently on a two-game win streak taking down conference opponents Grand Canyon and CSU Bakersfield in a pair of road contests last week.
 
Aries Washington leads the scoring for UMKC putting up 16.4 points per game. Kristen Moore follows closely behind with 13.6 points per contest and a team-high 6.5 rebounds. Samantha Waldron has averaged 12.1 points and has knocked down a team-leading 53 three-pointers.
 
Through 20 games the Roos have outscored opponents 66.2 to 63.5. The Kansas City squad has played their best in the second half outscoring teams 347 to 284 in the third quarter and recording a high of 354 points in the fourth.
 
LEADER OF THE WAC
Despite suffering a loss at Seattle U, the Aggies remain atop of the WAC standings with a 10-9 overall record and 4-1 in league play. As a team, NM State ranks first in the conference in field goal percentage (.425), 3-point field goal percentage (.355) and blocked shots (89). In league-only play, New Mexico State leads the league in scoring offense (67.0) and field goal percentage (.440).
 
Individually, Zaire Williams posts a conference-best 4.9 assists per game so far this season. Brooke Salas ranks second in the league in scoring as she averages 19.7 points per game. Gia Pack averages 14.7 points which puts her in sixth in the conference in scoring. Monique Mills leads the WAC in 3-point field goal percentage (.420) followed by Salas (.388) and Pack (.373), who rank second and fourth, respectively.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The New Mexico State women's basketball team closed out a two-game road swing at Utah Valley University in Lockhart Arena on Saturday. A lights out shooting first quarter gave the Aggies an early lead, which helped the team take down the Wolverines 82-72.
 
Play for the Aggies was led by Pack who finished with a team-high 25 points, followed by Salas with 22 and Jasmine Cooper also finished in double-digits with 11. On top of the high-scoring night, Pack and Salas were also able to lead the Aggies in rebounds with seven apiece.
 
UP NEXT
Following the home contest against the Roos the team travels to Edinburg, Texas, to take on the Vaqueros of UT Rio Grande Valley. The game between the WAC foes is set for 6 p.m. MT at the UTRGV Fieldhouse on Saturday, Feb. 3, and can be viewed on the WAC Digital Network.
