SENIOR NIGHT
Saturday is the final home game of the 207-18 season and New Mexico State is set to honor its three seniors. Â
Tonishia Childress,
Jasmine Cooper and
Zaire Williams are playing in their final game on the Pan Am floor and are set to be honored on Senior Night.

Childress transferred to New Mexico State from Boise State after her sophomore season. Childress immediately impacted the Aggies appearing in 22 games as a junior on a team that won the Western Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

During her senior campaign 5-5 guard from Las Vegas has appeared in 25 games and made 14 starts. Childress has scored a career high of 11 points two-times in the crimson and white. She last achieved the feat on February 3
rd against UTRGV.

Cooper has played in 96 games in the crimson and white including starting all 27 games during her senior year. The Dallas, Texas native has averaged 5.7 points per game this season including a career high of 16 points in a win over Chicago State. On that same day, Cooper set her career high for rebounds with 10.

Zaire Williams have been winners while at New Mexico State – the duo has helped lead New Mexico State to three consecutive Western Athletic Conference Regular Season and Tournament championships and three consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament.

Williams has been a staple in the Aggie lineup since arriving on campus in 2014. Zaire has played in 118 games as an Aggie starting 60 games in the crimson and white. Zaire has started every game at point guard during the last two seasons. The Dana Point, California native has averaged 7.7 points per game this season including a season high of 19 points against in-state rival UNM. Williams career-high came against Southern Utah in 2014 when she scored 25 points against the Thunderbirds.

The senior has also prided herself on distributing the ball to her teammates. The 5-6 point guard is leading the WAC this season averaging 5.2 assists per game including a season high of 16 in the Aggies win over Pepperdine. The business major has scored 645 points, grabbed 288 rebounds, notched 336 assists and recorded 125 steals in her career.

SCOUTING THE VAQUEROS
UTRGV enters the Pan Am for the regular season finale with a 14-14 overall record and 4-9 mark in Western Athletic Conference play. The Vaqueros have won three of their last four games with their most recent win coming on the road at Chicago State, 69-62.

Scoring for UTRGV has been led by Quynne Huggins who has appeared in all 28 games for the Vaqueros and averaged a team-high 10.3 points. Krisynthia Sampson leads the team on the glass reeling in 6.1 rebounds per game.

The Vaqueros play their best basketball late as they have been able to outscore their opponents in the fourth quarter (497-470) and in overtime (31-27). The first meeting between NM State and UTRGV saw the game go into overtime in Edinburg, Texas as the Aggies walked away with a 79-77 win.

LAST TIME OUT
NM State returns home after winning a pair of crucial WAC contests at Chicago State and UMKC.

The team began its final road trip of the regular season starting at Chicago State on Feb. 22. Another strong second half, featuring a 14-0 run in the third, led the Aggies to a 63-55 victory over the Cougars.

Then the Aggies headed to Kansas City, Mo. for a game against UMKC on Feb. 24. NM State had a flurry of scoring which featured five players finishing with double-digits to lead the team to a 76-67 victory.

UP NEXT
Following the regular season finale the Aggies hit the road to Las Vegas for the 2018 WAC Basketball Tournament. New Mexico State is locked in as one of the top-two seeds for the tournament. Quarterfinal matchups begin on March 7 at the Orleans Arena.Â
