LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State women's tennis team kicks off its 2019 dual season at home against Western New Mexico at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27, at the NM State Tennis Center.

New Mexico State singles standout
Clara Rizea is looking to maintain her good form after going 7-3 in singles play last fall. Meanwhile,
Harsha Challa and
Gavi Kalaga each have six wins to their names. In doubles, the team of
Harsha Challa and
Lindsay Harlas have tallied six wins on the year.

In the fall, NM State took home a trio of player of the month awards. The Aggies swept the award in the month of October with
Chloe Gavino taking home the honor in singles while Harlas and Challa took home the award for doubles. The following month, Rizea took home the award for singles after a stellar month.

Western New Mexico competes in its first dual match of the season when it battles UTEP on Saturday, Jan. 26, before facing the Aggies. The two teams did not see each other last year, however, the Aggies managed to sweep Western New Mexico when they last met in 2017. Overall, the Aggies have gone 6-0 in matches against the Mustangs since 2011.

New Mexico State will then head west to take on Arizona (Feb. 2) and Arizona State (Feb. 3) out of the Pac-12 next weekend.
