ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico State track and field competed at the New Mexico Collegiate Team Invitational on Saturday. The Aggies had three first-place finishes from the single-day meet at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Brooke Wallace took home first in the 200m race, clocking in at 24.56. Following behind was
Asjah Wallace, who took home second place when she posted a time of 24.76. Both times rank in the program's indoor record books.
Camira Haughton was the top NM State finisher in the 400m, taking third with a time of 56.42. The time ranks fourth in the New Mexico State record books.
Lanie Whelpley also ran the 400m and had a personal-best time of 57.11 to place sixth.
In the 600m
Elizabeth Mendoza claimed sixth, clocking in at 1:39.17. For the 800m,
Leah Salazar took home seventh (2:18.39) while
Nicolette Pacheco finished in ninth (2:20.31).
Stephanie Quintero finished with a time of 5:27.58 in the mile, which was good for eighth place.
In the 3,000m,
Elana Kresl led the NM State runners, clocking in a personal best time of 10:23.05 to take third.
Jess Dominguez (10:24.39) placed fourth while
Richelle Sandin (10:24.43) finished closely behind in fifth.
The 4x400m relay of Whelpley, B. Wallace, A. Wallace, and Haughton took home first with a time of 3:43.66.The time ranks second in the Aggie record books.
In the weight throw,
Yemisi Oroyinyin posted a personal record when she took home first with a mark of 17.68m (58-0.25).
Taniya Mitchell (17.58m, 57-0.25) and
Bristol O'Connor (16.44m, 53-11.25) followed closely behind in third and fifth, respectively.
Kylie Pollard rounded out the Aggie group with a 10
th place and a throw of 13.57m (44-6.25). For the shot put, O'Connor finished in fifth (13.00m, 42-8) while Mitchell took sixth (11.75m, 38-6.75).
In her first meet of the season,
Keyarha Wilson claimed third in the high jump, posting a mark of 1.66m (5-5.25)
Kayli Farmer finished in sixth, jumping 1.61m (5-3.25).
Hannah Smith took third in the triple jump, finishing with a mark of 12.08m (39-7.75).
The Aggies are back in action at the ABQ Convention Center when the squad competes at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic. The two-day meet begins on February 1.
