LAS CRUCES, N.M. - A decorated collegiate student-athlete is set to join the NM State women's golf team as a graduate assistant.
Former Denver standout Sophie Newlove, a 2018-19 All-Summit League First Team honoree and a four-time WGCA All-American Scholar, will assist head coach
Danny Bowen and the Aggies, as they look to repeat as Western Athletic Conference champions.

"I'm happy to announce that Sophie will be joining our program, and I'm looking forward to working with her," Bowen said. "She come to us after having played collegiately for Denver, where she won multiple Summit League awards and received Academic All-America honors in each of her four years there.
"Sophie knows what it takes to play at a high level, and I know she'll be able to help our team here at NM State reach new heights."
Newlove was named to the All-Summit League First Team after a stellar senior season. She posted a 75.27 scoring average in 2018-19, securing four top-10 finishes, including two top-five finishes, during the campaign.
The native of Nottingham, England, was a member of the 2018-19 Summit League All-Tournament Team, as well as the 2018-19 Summit League All-Academic Team. She captured Summit League Championship MVP honors and All-Summit League Second Team recognition in 2017-18.
