@NMStateWBB Travels to New Mexico Before Hosting ASU

Aggies set to head north to take on rival New Mexico before returning to the Pan American Center to host Pac-12 foe Arizona State.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State women's basketball team heads to Albuquerque for the Battle of I-25 on Monday, Dec. 16, at 7 p.m., before returning to the Pan American Center to host Arizona State on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m.

Scouting the Lobos
After losing three-straight games, the Lobos bounced back with a 92-44 win over Northern New Mexico in The Pit. Last time the two teams met on Nov. 17, in Las Cruces, the Aggies hung close for three quarters but UNM got hot from three and won the game 86-67.
 
New Mexico boasts a high-powered offense that ranks 22nd nationally in points per game (79.4). The Lobos have three players who average double-digit scoring, led by Ahlise Hurst at 13.5 points per game. Hurst dropped 22 points on 7-11 shooting from three in the first meeting. Jordan Hosey (11.4) and Jayla Everett (11.2) are the other two Lobos averaging double figures.  
 
A Look at the Sundevils
Arizona State currently holds a 7-2 overall record. The two teams last meet in the first round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament with ASU winning 74-52.
 
The Sundevils have been especially good defensively and on the offensive glass. They rank 25th nationally in steals per game (11.4) and second nationally in offensive rebounds per game (19.2). ASU averages 67.3 points per game and is led by Ja'Tavia Tapley at 12.9 points per game with a .489 shooting clip.
