ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico State track and field team concluded its run at the Don Kirby Collegiate Elite Invitational and the Texas Tech Shootout on Saturday.
In the 60m,
Lashira Tremble took the top spot for the Aggies, placing 11
th in the 60m dash with a time of 7.73.
Keosha Sanders followed the junior in 15
th when she clocked in at 7.77. In the 60m hurdles qualifying round,
Asjah Wallace took fourth with a time of 8.74.
Leah Salazar came away with ninth in the 800m when she recorded a season-best time of 2:17.82.
The 4x400m relay squad of
Camira Haughton, A. Wallace,
Brooke Wallace and
Lanie Whelpley placed fourth when the team clocked in at 3:41.61. The time ranks second in the Aggie record books.
In the triple jump,
Hannah Smith placed 10
th when she posted a mark of 12.08m (39-7.75).
Yemisi Oroyinyin was the top New Mexico State finisher in the shot put, throwing 13.75m (45-1.5) to take 18
th.
At the Texas Tech Shootout,
Crissey Amberg took second in the mile when she posted a season-best time of 4:56.84.
Julia Yescas followed close behind in fourth, clocking in with a personal-best time of 5:04.18.
Elana Kresl ran her best time this season in the event when she finished at 5:11.52, which was good for ninth. Placing 10
th was
Richelle Sandin who ran a personal record time of 5:11.82.
For the 3,000m, Amberg also placed second, running another season best when she clocked in at 10:22.06. Yescas posted a personal record when she took third in the race with a time of 10:24.01.
Stephanie Quintero also recorded a season best, finishing fourth when she clocked in at 10:33.82. Kresl (10:41.56) and Sandin (10:41.75) rounded out the squad in sixth and seventh, respectively.
NM State gets set for the Western Athletic Conference Indoor Championships. The two-day meet takes place in Boise, Idaho, from Feb. 22-23.
