LAREDO, Texas – The New Mexico State men's golf team wrapped up play at the Border Olympics on Wednesday. After three rounds on the links, the Aggies shot a 291-285-300—876 (+12) to finish in 12
th place.
NM State's individual play was led by
Mike McGilton who fired a 72-71-72—215 (-1) to finish in a tie for 19
th. McGilton led the Aggie squad in holes for par with 37.
Tadhg Campbell shot a 70-70-78—218 (+2) and finished in a tie for 31
st.
Ryo Harada followed with a scorecard of 76-73-74—223 (+7) to complete the tournament in a tie for 53
rd. Just two strokes behind was
Garrison Smith at 73-76-76—225 (+9) to tie for 63
rd and
Niall Powell rounds out the starting lineup at 78-71-80—229 (+13) to tie for 77
th.
Cameron Gambini, competing as an individual, tied for 63
rd 77-70-78---225 (+9).
At the end of tournament play, No. 20 Arkansas State took home first place with a team score of 835 (-29), followed by Sam Houston State in second at 850 (-14) and UT Rio Grande Valley finished in third at 853 (-11).
Following this play at the Border Olympics, the New Mexico State men's golf squad remains in the Lone Star State to compete in The Big Texan, March 25-26, in Kerrville, Texas.
