Former Aggie Nick Gonzales Named Arizona Fall League ‘Fall Star’

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The year of Nick Gonzales rolls on, as the former Aggie star was named to the 2021 Arizona Fall League All Star game Saturday night at 5 p.m. (MT).

One of the top performers in all of minor league baseball this season, Gonzales has hit .381 in 63 at-bats for the Peoria Javelinas. The Arizona native has hit seven extra-base hits and a pair of homers.

Gonzales' .381 average is the third-best mark in the AFL and his .487 on-base percentage ranks second. The infielders' 1.060 OPS (on-base plus slugging) is fifth in the AFL. In November, Gonzales has a six-game hit streak and is hitting .471 with an on-base percentage of .487 (17 at-bats).

The Pirates Offensive Prospect of the Year, Gonzales was also named to the MLB Pipeline Prospect Team of the Year (second team) after hitting .302 with 18 home runs and 54 RBIs (80 games) for the Greensboro Grasshoppers.

Ranked in the MLB Pipeline Top-100 (62), the former Aggie had a 45 extra-base hits in his 369 plate appearances and was named the Minor League Baseball High-A Player of the Month for the month of August.
