Complete USTFCCCA Regional and National Rankings

NEW ORLEANS - Following a fourth-place finish at the WAC Championship meet last Saturday, the NM State women's cross country team remains one of the best squads in its region.

In the latest edition of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) regional rankings, the NM State women's cross country team continues to hold steady at 13th in the USTFCCCA Mountain Region Rankings.

The Aggies broke into the regional rankings two weeks ago and continue to be one of four teams from the WAC ranked among the various regions in the land by the USTFCCCA.

In addition to NM State, Utah Valley (10th) also appears in the 15-team Mountain Region rankings while Abilene Christian (third) is the lone WAC squad to show up in the South Central Region rankings this week. California Baptist (10th) represents the WAC in the latest version of the West Region poll.

At the WAC Championship meet last Saturday, NM State conjured up a fourth-place finish and was led by All-WAC Second Team selections Richelle Sandin (12th, 20:50.3) and Maggie Gibbs (16th, 20:57.8). NM State's top five finishers all placed within the top 27 finishers in the 100-woman field.

Next week, NM State and a host of other teams from the region will convene in Provo, Utah, for the NCAA Mountain Regional meet. Hosted by BYU at the Timpanogos Golf Club, NM State's women's cross country team will vie for a spot at the NCAA Championship meet when the gun goes off for the six-kilometer race Friday, Nov. 12 at 11:00 a.m. The Aggies' men's team is also set to compete at the NCAA Mountain Regional meet with that race scheduled to begin at noon that same day.
