FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The New Mexico State diving team kept the Aggies steady in second place following day one of the Western Athletic Conference Diving Championships at Wall Aquatic Center in Flagstaff, Ariz.
Â
"These girls have worked so hard this season and we were ready to see it pay off," said diving coach
Miranda King. "Unfortunately, prelims got off to a little bit of a rocky start this morning, but both girls improved with their second round of diving. Taylor took advantage of the finals and moved up two spots in the last 3-meter meet of her career. We've got 1-meter tomorrow morning, and the girls are looking to take advantage of another opportunity to compete."
Â
Italia Aranzabal and
Taylor Jackson both competed in today's 3-meter event. Aranzabal finished outside of the top-eight but finished strong with second place in the consolation final.
Â
A solid final dive in the preliminary round help propel
Taylor Jackson into the final. Jackson would go on to finish seventh with a score of 225.40.
Â
The Aggie divers are set to compete in the 1-meter tomorrow, Feb. 26. Fans can stream the action on Facebook Live courtesy of NAU Swimming and Diving.
Â
Following Diving Championships, scores will be added to las week's swimming scores and a champion will be named.
