AUSTIN, Texas - The NM State men's golf team had a strong finish on day one of the George Hannon Invitational Monday at the UT Golf Club in Austin, Texas. The Aggies sit in 12th with a 54-hole score of 604 (+20).
Garrison Smith and
Aidan Thomas once again led the way for the Aggies, as Smith finished the day five-over after a first round 72 (+1) which tied his season-low. Smith knocked in three birdies to start his second round to head to the back-nine with a 34 (-2). Smith finished his round four-over and currently sits tied for 38th.
Thomas also started his second round on a strong note with a one-under 35 in his first nine holes. In the two rounds today, Thomas shot a 74 in each of them and sits tied for 46th at six-over heading into Tuesday's final round.
Steven Strasheim (+12),
Alvaro Morales (+18) and
Trey Diehl (+23) rounded out the field for the Aggies.Â
The Aggies will begin the final round tomorrow at 7:30 a.m.
