Aggies Look to Continue Success at Jo Meaker Classic and Multi

 LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The NM State track and field team will look to continue its momentum following last week's Aztec Invitational at the Jo Meaker Classic and Multi Friday and Saturday in Canyon, Texas. The meet is hosted by West Texas A&M.

The Field
Barton College, Cloud County Community College, University of Colorado Colorado Springs, East Texas Baptist, Eastern New Mexico, Friends University, Garden City Community College, Lubbock Christian College, MSU Denver, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Northwest Kansas Tech, Northwestern Oklahoma State, Pratt Community College, UT Permian Basin and Wayland Baptist.

Schedule
The Aggies will begin action Friday at noon with the javelin throw. The Aggies will also compete in the hammer throw at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. On Saturday, a full day will begin at 10:20 a.m. with the women's high jump. Track events will begin at 1 p.m. with the 4x100m relay. The final event of the day will be the 4x400m relay and is scheduled to begin at 5:20 p.m.

Last Time Out
Corinne Hanson and Yemisi Oroyinyin each took home individual titles at the Aztec Invitational. As a team, the Aggies finished fifth with 85 points. 

Hanson took home the 3000m steeplechase title by posting a school-record time of 10:38.62. Oroyinyin found her success in the shot put, as she threw a career-best 15.40m to take home the title. 

The Aggies got scoring from Asjah Wallace and Aliyah Logan in the 100m hurdles, as they finished fifth and sixth respectively. 

Terice Steen had an impressive performance in the 400m hurdles, as she finished third with a time of 1:01.98.

The Aggies rounded out the scoring with the javelin throw, as three Aggies finished in the top seven. Bailey Beene led the way with a personal-best throw of 43.48m to finish second.

Up Next
The Aggies will head over to Lubbock, Texas, for the Masked Rider Open on Apr. 9-10. The meet will be hosted by Texas Tech.
