Aggies Head to Boulder City for WAC Championships

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The NM State men's golf team will head to beautiful Boulder City, Nev., for the 2021 WAC Men's Golf Championships on the Boulder Creek Golf Club. Players and teams will play single rounds on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Aggies are scheduled to tee off at 8 a.m. tomorrow morning.

Last Outing at WAC Championships
It has been over two years since the Aggies have competed in the WAC Championships. In 2019, the Aggies finished 5th with score of 882 (+30) at the Oakbrook Golf Club in Lakewood, Wash. Garrison Smith is the only Aggie to have competed in the WAC Championships. In 2019, he finished tied for 24th with a 224 (+11).

Aggie Rundown
Joseph Robson gets the No. 1 spot in the Aggie lineup after a terrific showing last week at the PING Cougar Classic. Robson finished three-under for the tournament to earn his first top 25 finish of his career. Robson was also named WAC Player of the Week. 

Garrison Smith will hold the No. 2 spot for the Aggies this weekend. Smith comes in with a 74.27 scoring average in 18 rounds this season. Smith also had a solid showing at the PING Cougar Classic, as he shot a 217 (+1) to finish tied for 48th. 

Aidan Thomas is back in the lineup for the Aggies this weekend. Thomas leads the team with a 72.44 scoring average and two top 25 finishes. 

Cole Grossl will get his first start of the season this weekend. The freshman from Keller, Texas, has not competed in any meets for the Aggies this season but will fill the fourth spot in the Aggies' lineup. 

Rounding out the Aggies' lineup will be Alvaro Morales. Morales holds a 76.16 scoring average. His best tournament was the Big Texan where he shot a career-low 215 (-1) and tied for fifth.
