Aidan Thomas is tied for 13th after firing a two-under 142 to lead the Aggies on the first day of the Bayou City Collegiate Classic. The Aggies sit in 14th after posting a 36-hole score of 598.Â
Thomas caught fire early at the Westwood Golf Club, scoring birdie on two out of the first four holes. Thomas continued his strong round with back-to-back birdies on his ninth and 10th holes of the day. Thomas bounced back from a bogey on the fourth with a birdie on the fifth to get back to three-under. Thomas shot par on the final four holes to finish with a three-under 69.Â
Garrison Smith ended the day tied for 64th after shooting a six-over 150.
Steven Strasheim finished the day with a score of 154 (+10).
Mauricio Figueroa and
Alvaro Morales rounded out the scoring for the Aggies, as they each shot a 155 (+11).
Scott Rescigno competed as an individual and is tied for 59th after shooting five-over 149. Rescigno tied his 18-hole career-low in the first round by shooting a two-under 70.
The Aggies will conclude the tournament tomorrow morning beginning at 7:20 a.m.
