Aggies Can't Get Past 'Lopes in Regular Season Finale

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The NM State women's soccer team (4-12-1) was unable to come out on top in a 2-0 loss to Grand Canyon (7-8-1) Friday afternoon at the NM State Soccer Athletic Complex.

The Aggies put the pressure on the Antelopes early in the game, as Megan Ormson had a good look just 52 seconds in the game, but she couldn't connect. The Aggies played solid defense on the back line, as the Antelopes took 13 shots in the first half but were held scoreless.

The two teams remained scoreless through the first 28 minutes of the second half. The Aggies once again got the first good look on a header from Corey Kizer, but the Aggies couldn't convert. The game got away from the Aggies in the 74th minute when the Antelopes put up two goals in the one-minute span.

The Aggies threatened again in the 84th minute on a shot from Loma McNeese, but it was once again saved, and the Aggies would be held scoreless.

The Aggies will have a quick turnaround when they head to Phoenix, Ariz., for the WAC Tournament. The Aggies will be the fifth seed in their first WAC Tournament since 2017. The Aggies will play at 4 p.m. on Tuesday. The opponent will be announced at a later date.
