THE STARTING LINE

  • New Mexico State's Men and Women Cross Country Teams are off to compete at the Dave Murray Invitational in Tucson, Ariz. - hosted by the University of Arizona - on Saturday, September 30th.
  • The meet will take place at the Tucson County Club. Starting at 8:00 a.m. the women will compete in a six-kilometer race, followed by the men's eight-kilometer race at 8:45 a.m. MT.


THE FIELD

• In addition to the Aggies, five other schools will compete in the Dave Murray Invitational. Teams that will be accompanying the Aggies in Tucson are Arizona State, The University of Arizona, Grand Canyon, UTEP and San Diego State. 

ABOUT THE AGGIES | MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

  • The Aggies men's team recently placed seventh in the Texas Tech Open two weeks ago in Lubbock, Texas. 
  • Anekin Hetman lead the Aggies to a seventh place finish out of 166 runners when he crossed the finish line at 25:14.07. This is the seventh top-ten finish in Hetman's career and his second consecutive top-ten finish after placing fourth at the Lori Fitzgerald Open last month.
  • Freshman Collins Yego was the next Aggie to cross the finish line. He placed 37th with a time of 26:28.3


ABOUT THE AGGIES | WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

  • The women's team is coming off a fifth-place finish at the Texas Tech Open a few weeks ago.
  • Richelle Sandin finished atop the Aggie runners for the second meet in a row placing ninth out of 105, finishing the race with a time of 22:27.90. This is also the second consecutive week meet she finishes a meet in the top ten.
  • Kayla O'Connell rounded out the top-25 crossing the finish line at 23:30.30.
  • El Paso native Vanessa Gracian crossed the line at 24:19.80 placing 32nd
  • Another El Paso native, Jordan Torres, placed 41st finishing with a time of 24:41.70.
  • Leah Clark ran a time of 25:05.60, placing 47th.


COMING UP NEXT

Following this meet, the Aggies will head to college station for the Arturo Barrios Invitational for what will be the final regular season meet before heading to Nacogdoches, Texas for the WAC Championships.
