Match Eleven
NM State (5-3-3, 2-1-2 WAC) vs. Tarleton (4-4-3, 0-2-2 WAC)
Friday, Sep. 30 | 7:00 p.m. (MT) | NM State Soccer Complex | Las Cruces, N.M.
Final: NM State 4, Tarleton 0
LAS CRUCES, N.M. - What a bounce-back performance it was for the NM State women's soccer team as they secure the 4-0 shutout victory over conference foe Tarleton, after falling to Stephen F. Austin last Sunday 2-1.
The Aggies were all over the place tonight on offense and defense. They put up a season high 25 shots on offense, and as a defense, only allowed three shots the whole match.
In addition, four different Aggies found the net tonight tying their season high, which they set on September 9, against Nevada (4-0).
SCORING SUMMARY | Box Score
24' | Megan Ormson decided to get the scoring started with her first goal of the season. The score followed an Aggie corner kick taken by
Bianca Chacon; just one of 13 corners the Aggies took tonight. The cross from Chacon found its way into the goal box and bounced around for a bit before
Xitlaly Hernandez kicked it back out to Ormson, who found a good look and kicked in the score.
55' | Freshman
Sofia Beerworth, who has been playing some big minutes for
Rob Baarts this season, got some space on the outside after a nice feed from
Loma McNeese. Beerworth put a move on her defender forcing her to lose balance. After she got free, she fired a shot towards the goal that was initially stopped by the Tarleton Goalkeeper, Delaney Castor, but snuck through her legs and rolled into the net.
62' | Rob Baarts elected to send
Bianca Chacon back to the flag after being awarded another corner kick. Chacon fired another cross right into the box and connected with Brooke Shultz's right foot for her first goal of the season.
77' | If you thought three goals was enough, think again. After a wave of substitutions by both sides, the Aggies looked to want to keep pressing the ball up field in hopes of another soccer.
Xitlaly Hernandez was all over the place again tonight adding two more assists to her season total. Hernandez sent a pass out front to
Gia Valenti who quickly crossed it back to the middle of the field for Blakley Edgar for the easy score.
