NM State Hosts Western New Mexico in Exhibition Ahead of Spring Season

NM State men's tennis kicks off 2023

Match One
NM State (0-0) vs. Western New Mexico (0-0)
Friday, Jan. 20 | 2 p.m. | Las Cruces, N.M. | NM State Tennis Center

THE FIRST SERVE
• When the Aggies take the court on Friday, it will have been 97 days since they last competed against someone not wearing Crimson & White. Although it will be considered an exhibition match, the meeting with the Mustangs will serve as the start of NM State's spring season.
• Prior to Friday, the Aggies were last in action when they competed in the ITA Regional Championship in Albuquerque, N.M., from Thursday, Oct. 13, to Friday, Oct. 15.
• The Aggies' official start to the regular season is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 24, when they compete in the UNLV Quad – a four-day event at the Frank and Vicki Fertitta Tennis Complex in Las Vegas.
• Head Coach Carlos Vargas will rely heavily on senior Jordy Visser who finished tied with Louis Menard for the team lead in singles wins with 10 in the spring of 2022.
• Returners Corey Clarke and Itay Feigin will also look to provide positive results for the Aggies this spring after both finished last season with nine wins to their name.
• Vassanth Mathan, Luca Fé D'Ostiani and Ryan Ford are the final three returners for the Aggies while Patrick Lohmann, Henrik Lynum, Yehor Opanasenko and Roko Stipetic will serve as the Aggies' newcomers.

COMING UP NEXT
• Following competing in Las Vegas, the Aggies will be back at home to start a four-match homestand, beginning with New Mexico on Saturday, Feb. 4.
