SALT LAKE CITY – After more than two weeks removed from competition, the NM State women's tennis team will head to the state of Utah where it will collide with its toughest competition to date as they partake in the ITA Mountain Regional.
The Aggies will be joined by rivals New Mexico, UTEP while host Utah, Air Force, Boise State, Colorado, Colorado State, Denver, Montana, Northern Arizona, Idaho, Idaho State, Nevada, UNLV, Utah State, Utah Tech, Weber State and Wyoming will also be among the deep field.
NM State will be represented by
Anna Pinaieva and
Lisa Zhu in the 64-player main draw that is set to get underway at 8:30 a.m. MT. The Aggies' Pinaieva will face off with Colorado's Elys Ventura while
Lisa Zhu is scheduled to begin her week with a matchup against Boise State's Caroline Driscoll.
The second singles flight in Salt Lake City will also feature a pair of Aggies as both
Natsuki Nishimura and
Valeriia Ivanovskaia will see action on Tuesday. Nishimura's first opponent will be Colorado's Anya Nelson while Ivanvovskaia will see BYU's Madison Smith in the opening round of the tournament.
