LAS CRUCES, N.M. – On Wednesday afternoon, NM State men's golf head coach
Mike Dirks announced the addition of two top-tier golfers from the Southwest. Transferring from South Mountain Community College, Ethan Klose, the No. 2 NJCCA player in the country, has signed with the program for the 2023-24 school year. From the high school ranks, Dirks and company will be joined by hometown hero Logan Morris, who has won two individual state championships while leading Mesilla Valley Christian to back-to-back state titles.
"We are thrilled to have Ethan and Logan join our team this upcoming fall. Ethan has shown he can shoot low scores and was a tough competitor during his two seasons at South Mountain," Dirks remarked. "As for Logan, it's exciting to bring in a local player who has competed well in the state; being a two-time state champion is special."

As a true freshman, Klose was named to the NJCAA First Team All-American while subsequently earning a spot on the PING Second Team All-American. A native of Phoenix, Klose helped lead South Mountain to the 2022 NJCAA Division II National Championship.
Accoding to Golfstat, Klose is currently ranked as the No. 2 golfer in NJCAA Division II and III, posting an adjusted scoring average of 71.59. Klose has carded four different top five finished this season, including an individual championship at the Mesa Thunderbird Invitational. Later in the season, Klose came up just short at the Eastern Arizona Invite, finished second.
The sophomore has helped South Mountain remain atop the Golfstat team rankings. In 2022-23 as a team, South Mountain has won all seven tournaments in which they have competed in and will head into the NJCAA Division II National Championships with a ton of confidence.
Logan Morris | Las Cruces, N.M. | Mesilla Valley Christian
Staying home in the City of Crosses, Logan Morris will join the Aggies for the 2023-24 season.
As a junior, Morris won the first individual state title in Mesilla Valley Christian history while leading the SonBlazers to their first team title since 2005. Morris fired a two-day total of 155 at Canyon Club at Four Hills in Albuquerque. On the final day, Morris edged out his younger brother, Riley, to bring a state championship back to Las Cruces.
In 2023, both Morris and the SonBlazers went back-to-back, claiming both the individual and team titles once again. Morris once again edged out his younger brother to bring home the hardware, finishing one shot better at 154.
