COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – For the second time in less than a week, NM State men's golf will begin a tournament on Sunday, September 10. After opening the season in Missouri, the Aggies will compete in the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, hosted by Air Force, from Sunday to Tuesday.
Vari Mariscal will make his collegiate debut on Sunday, playing as the three in NM State's lineup. Mariscal, a freshman from Deming, N.M., will be joined by
Lance Christensen Jr., who is also making his season debut.
Javier Delgadillo,
Alexandre Bauduin, and
Alvaro Morales all competed for NM State in the lid-lifter in Missouri and will once again return to the Aggie lineup in Colorado. Of the trio, Morales recorded the highest finish in last year's Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, tying for 39th and shooting a 221 (+5; 77-72-72).
As a team, the Aggies tied for third in the same event. The Aggies finished three-under at 861 and made a late jump up the leaderboard. Entering the final round, NM State sat in sixth place before finding a rhythm and surging into the tie for third.

The Field
Along with NM State, the 24-team field includes Air Force, Cal Poly, Colorado State, CSU Northridge, Idaho, Incarnate Word, Northern Colorado, George Washington, Gonzaga, Missouri State, Northern Iowa, South Dakota, SIU- Edwardsville, Southern Utah, Utah State, Utah Tech, UC Davis, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, Valparaiso, Weber State, Wofford and Wyoming.
Format
The team competition will be held on the Blue Course with tee times beginning at 8:30 am MT on Sunday and Monday and at 7:30 am MT on Tuesday. Each five-member team will count the top four scores each day. All individuals will play on the Silver Course, with a shotgun start at 9:30 am on Sunday and Monday and at 8:30 am on Tuesday. The practice round will be held on Saturday, Sept. 9, beginning at 8:00 a.m.
