Aggies Come Up Short at Northern Colorado

NM State returns to action on Nov. 8 when it hosts UTRGV.

GREELEY, Colo. – NM State completed the second half of its back-to-back duals in Colorado on Friday evening as they took on fellow WAC member Northern Colorado. Despite a hard-fought day, the Aggies fell 168-132 to the Bears at Butler Hancock Pool.
 
In total, the Aggies emerged from the dual meet with eight wins across 16 events including a win in the 400 free relay to close the day.
 
The Aggies' first podium placement in an individual event came in the 1000 free as Katie Rink turned in a time of 10:35.95 to place second in the field of five.
 
In the very next race, freshman Dijana Mazumdar produced the Aggies' first first-place finish of the meet as she battled her way to the top spot in the 200 free with a time of 1:54.72. Later, Mazumdar would pick up her second win of the evening when she placed first in the 50 free with a time of 24.38. Mazumdar's dominant day would continue in the 100 free as she swam to a first-place finish with a time of 52.78 for her third win of the meet.
 
Emily Dobbins also recorded a first-place finish as she managed a time of 58.11 to clinch the fastest time in a field of 10 competitors. Dobbins then joined Mazumdar to become the second Aggie with multiple wins as she took first in the 200 back with a time of 2:08.31.
 
Katie Rink also earned a first-place finish in the 500 free – earning a narrow victory with a time of 5:08.78. The Aggies' last individual win came in the 200 IM as Naomi Slee tallied a win with a time of 2:10.54.
 
In the last event of the day, NM State earned an impressive win in the 400 free relay as the quartet of Emily Dobbins, Dijana Mazumdar, Caroline Costantini and Katie Rink combined to submit a time of 3:32.26 to earn 11 points for the Aggies.
