LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Conference USA released their weekly awards this morning and have announced that the Aggies garnered both player of the week and freshman of the week.
Molly Kaiser wins her third CUSA Player of the Week honor during her career in Las Cruces.
Madi Gewirtz helps the Aggies earn CUSA Freshman of the Week for the first time in program history.
Kaiser combined for 55 points this week across both games against rival opponent New Mexico in the battle of I-25, helping NM State to sweep the Lobos for the first time since the 2015-16 season. In 20 free-throw attempts, she finished with 18 makes at the charity stripe for a 90% shooting rate from the line. Kaiser also tallied three steals, eight assists, and 11 rebounds in the weekend series against the Lobos.
Gewirtz has shot phenomenally well this week from field, going 3-for-8 behind the arc. She has a combined two-game stat line of 17 points, six steals, three rebounds and one assist. She earned a single-game high in steals coming off the floor with four in just the Aggies' Sunday game alone.
Both players have improved the Aggies overall record this week to help move NM State into third in the current conference standings.
The two Aggies will look to help spark the team to a third consecutive win against the Tarleton State Texans on the road in Stephenville, Texas. The matchup will be played on Monday at 10 a.m. MST. Fans can catch the Aggies' road tilt on ESPN+.
