NM State sends trio of divers to NAU Diving Invite

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Following a weekend off, the NM State divers will travel to Northern Arizona where they will compete in the NAU Diving Invite at the Wall Aquatic Center in Flagstaff. This will mark the second time this season that the Aggies compete in a dive-only event hosted by the Lumberjacks.

The invite will ultimately begin on Thursday with the 1-meter dive, before the athletes compete from the 3-meter board on Friday and from the platform height on Saturday. NM State will take a total of three divers to compete this weekend – seniors Italia Aranzabal and Casey Schmidt and freshman Mira Tinani

The dive team's most recent trip to NAU was highlighted by performances by Mira Tinani who logged a second-place finish in the consolation final of the 1-meter dive, an eighth-place finish in the 3-meter event and a sixth-place finish in the platform event.

Meanwhile, Casey Schmidt produced a seventh place finish in the consolation final of the 1-meter dive in addition to finishing 12th in the platform dive.

Following this weekend, the Aggie divers will be joined by the NM State swimmers in their preparation for the WAC Championships in Pharr, Texas, on Feb. 28 through March 2 at the Pharr Natatorium.
