TUCSON, Ariz. – The NM State men's golf team returned to action on Monday at the Tuscon Country Club – finishing 12 over par (588) to hold steady in fourth place on the team leaderboard at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate. Eight of the 14 programs, including NM State, were able to reach the end of their first two rounds, however, there were six programs still on the course when play was suspended due to lack of sunlight.
The Aggies were led by
Alexandre Bauduin who submitted a pair of 73s to get his tournament started. At two-over-par through 36 holes Bauduin is currently tied for sixteenth with Alejandro De Castro of Long Beach State, Charlie Jackson of Abilene Christian and Zach Little of Central Arkansas. On the opening day of play, Bauduin posted six birdies evenly split across the two rounds.
Meanwhile,
Alvaro Morales finds himself among the next group of players as he is tied for 20
th place after finishing the day with a 36-hole score of 147 (+3). Morales' day was a tale of two rounds as he bounced back from an opening-round 76 to close his day with a 71 in the afternoon to shoot up the leaderboard.
Just one stroke also separated Morales from the next Aggie as
River Smalley posted a pair of 74s to head into Wednesday's final round four-over-par and in a tie for 23
rd on the individual leaderboard. Meanwhile,
Javier Delgadillo stands in a tie for 36
th despite carding a 71 in the opening round while
Anthony Lara is slotted in 48
th – shooting nine over par.
