Long Beach, Calif. – Being good at something is a lot of fun, and
Jhana Downie is having a blast. The Aggies took part in day three of the Beach Invitational, and day two of the Bryan Clay Invitational on Saturday, with Downie taking a pair of third-place finishes in the 100 meter and 200m dash, while taking home the gold in the 400m dash. Alongside Downie's dominant day, multiple Aggies recorded new personal and season bests.
Bryan Clay Invitational
In Azusa, Calif., a quintet of Aggies took part in the 1500m run. In the Open 'C',
Vanessa Gracian posted a new personal best with a time of 4:46.96 seconds. In the Open 'B' variant,
Thobile Amon took the top spot among the Crimson & White in the Open 'A' edition of the race, posting a time of 4:28.10, a new season best for the senior from Middleburg, South Africa.
Maggie Gibbs also competed in the Open 'A', posting a new personal best time with a mark of 4:31.29, surpassing her previous best set at the 2024 Willie Williams Classic.
Beach Invitational
Competing in the third and final day of the Beach Invitational in Long Beach, Calif., the 4x100 relay team of
Aliyah Logan,
Grace Pendarvis,
Sierra Brewer and
Terice Steen secured a second-place finish after posting a time of 45.63.
Taking part in the 100m hurdles for the second day in a row following a third-place finish at the Cerritos Invitational on Friday,
T'Erica Boyd was the top finisher for the Aggies, posting a wind-adjusted time of 13.86 (+2.4).
Breanna Moss recorded a time of 14.55 to finish third in her heat.

Sierra Brewer highlighted the 100m dash for NM State, with Downie taking third overall with a wind-adjusted time of 11.50 (+3.9 m/s). Brewer recorded an all-conditions best in the event with a time of 11:59 (+3.2 m/s) to finish in fifth.
Once again finding herself on the podium,
Jhana Downie finished second in the 200m dash, recording a wind-adjusted time of 23.63 (+2.5 m/s).
Sierra Brewer recorded her second top-ten finish on the afternoon, taking sixth with an all-conditions best of 24.13 (+2.5 m/s). Competing for the first time in the event, Mickaliliah Vassell posted a 12
th-place finish with a final time of 24.59 (+2.3 m/s).
In the 400m dash,
Jhana Downie, proved herself once more, taking home the gold medal after crossing the line with a time of 53.75. This completed a three-podium afternoon for the senior from Sunrise, Fla.
Terice Steen recorded a fifth-place finish in the 400m hurdles, tallying a time of 59.21. At present, this time would qualify Steen for the NCAA West Preliminaries, held May 22-25 in Fayetteville, Ark.
Makiya Moore posted the best result among Aggies in the discus on Saturday with a best mark of 47.16m (154-8"), while freshman
Ladina Kobler recorded a new personal best with a distance of 43.17m (141-7").
Meanwhile in the shot put,
Rebecca Green posted a mark of 15.25m (50-0.50") to take seventh overall. Her best result and school record of 16.59m (54-5.25") set at the Stanford Invitational is good for the 16
th-best distance in the NCAA West region, while ranking 28
th in the country.
