LAS CRUCES, N.M. – While NM State wrapped its regular season with a third-place finish at the 2024 CUSA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the Crimson & White will compete for another weekend as it participates in the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field West first round, hosted by the University of Arkansas. The meet takes place May 22-25 from John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, Arkansas. In total, nine student-athletes are set to compete for the Aggies in in multiple events, including the 100m hurdles, 200m dash, 400m hurdles, 10,000m run, shot put, hammer throw and the 4x400m relay.
NM State will compete on Thursday, May 23, and Saturday, May 25. Aggie fans can follow along with the action live on ESPN+ while up-to-the-minute results will be available through

Meet the Entrants
Jhana Downie | Jr. | 200m
One of the top student-athletes in Conference USA,
Jhana Downie will run in the 200m dash prelims after posting an all-conditions best of 23.18 seconds in the event at the LSU Alumni Gold meet. At last year's first round in Sacramento, Calif., Downie advanced to the national quarterfinals in the 200m dash, posting a final time of 23.33, while crossing the line with a time of 53.25 in the first round of the 400m dash.
Maggie Gibbs | Gr. | 10,000m
Gibbs reaffirmed her spot atop the spot in the NM State record book for the 10,000m run after posting a personal best of 33:55.79 at the 2024 Stanford Invitational. Gibbs last competed in the NCAA West first round in 2022, posting a time of 34:32.86 in the 10,000m run.
Emily Stutesman | Gr. | 10,000m
Close behind Gibbs, Stutesman tallied the second-fastest 10,000m run mark in NM State history after posting a personal best time of 34:05.98 at the 2024 Stanford Invitational. A four-time participant in the cross country NCAA Mountain Regionals, this will be Stutesman's first appearance in track & field.
Aliyah Logan | Sr. | 100m Hurdles
Logan holds the top spot in Aggie history for the 100m hurdles (13.08), while qualifying for the NCAA West first round after posting a wind-adjusted time of 13.06 at this year's Texas Relays. The senior from Markham, Ontario, Canada, is making her third appearance at an NCAA West first round.
Terice Steen | Sr. | 400m Hurdles
Steen broke her previous school record of 58.36 seconds at the 2024 CUSA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, posting a time of 57.90 to capture the gold medal and secure her spot in the NCAA West first round. Steen is participating in her fourth NCAA regional, recording a best time of 58.43 during last season's first round of the 400m hurdles.
Rebecca Green | Sr. | Shot put
Green launched herself to the top of the NM State record book and earned her first trip to the NCAA West first round after posting a mark of 16.59m (54-5.25") at the Stanford Invitational. This is Green's first appearance in an NCAA first round, and follows her first appearance at the USATF Indoor Championships in February.
Miranda Tcheutchoua | Jr. | Hammer throw
Tcheutchoua recorded a season-best in the hammer throw at the 2024 Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, posting a mark of 58.61m (192-3") to advance into the NCAA West first round.
Terice Steen, Breanna Moss, Jhana Downie, Mickaliliah Vassell | 4x400m relay
The 4x400 relay team of Steen, Moss, Downie and Vassell secured their spot in the NCAA West first round at their first meet of the season, posting a school-record time of 3:35.78 at the Willie Williams Classic.
Back Track | CUSA Outdoor Track & Field Championships | 5.10-12.24
- Just as she did in the indoor season, senior Rebecca Green took home gold in the shot put after recording a best mark of 16.55m (54-3.75").
- The 400m hurdles proved to be the most impactful event on the final day of competition as a trio of Aggies finished in the top eight, spearheaded by senior Terice Steen. Steen took home the gold medal after recording an NM State best of 57.90. The Jamaican native posted a time of 57.64 in the JAAA National Championships this past July. Mickaliliah Vasell joined Steen on the podium, taking third with a time of 1:01.28 while returning from injury.
- Aliyah Logan recorded an all-conditions best of 12.98 (+4.3 m/s) in the 100m hurdles, taking home second place behind UTEP's Marissa Simpson. This became the first time Logan had broken the 13-second mark.
- El Paso native Jordan Torres recorded the best finish on day two for NM State, taking home the bronze medal after finishing the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:39.35.
- In the triple jump, Cameron Hodges became the first Aggie to record a podium finish on Sunday, taking third place with an all-conditions best of 12.46m (40-10.5").
- Closing the Aggies' time at the 2024 CUSA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the 4x400 relay team of Terice Steen, Jahnya Hill, Jhana Downie and Mickaliliah Vassell recorded a podium finish, taking third with a final time of 3:38.92.
